Network Authentication

Service Description

In the case your computer is not registered (i.e. no DHCP and DNS entry) in D-INFK subnet, you can use the public wired or wireless ETH network. Authentication is necessary to connect into these networks.

There are different possibilities:

LAN 802.1x User Authentication

You can find how to activate wired LAN 802.1x user authentication here.

The two batch-files for creating the necessary registry keys on a windows machine are contained in the following zip archive:
Compressed Zip archive batch-auth.zip

After the first connection the window "Enter Credentials" appears. Enter:

User name: nethz-account@vpz-name
Password: vpn-pw
Logon domain: <no entry>

WLAN 802.1x User Authentication

VPN

You can find information about the VPN at ETH here.

If you want to use the private VPN please ask your IT Coordinator or isginf.

Guest and Conference Access

Members of the D-INFK can create 3-days accounts for access to VPN and the public (wireless and docking) networks for guests at https://passwort.ethz.ch » meine Services » Tagesgast.

For shared access to the network, e.g., for conferences, please contact your IT Coordinator or isginf.
