Mailing list service for the department. |
Service Description
The mailing list infrastructure at the D-INFK is based on Mailman and it allows members and groups of the D-INFK to use and manage mailing lists.
isginf provides the mailing list infrastructure. The list owners are responsible for the managent of the single lists (e.g. posting moderation).
Service Documentation
The
official mail address for the lists is
{listname}@lists.inf.ethz.ch. All lists and their administrative addresses will have this domain
The
official paths for the lists are:
-
https://lists.inf.ethz.ch/mailman/listinfo/{listname} — list information
-
https://lists.inf.ethz.ch/pipermail/{listname}/ — list archive
-
https://lists.inf.ethz.ch/mailman/admin/{listname} — list administrative interface
The documentation for the Mailman system can be found on
http://www.gnu.org/software/mailman/docs.html.
Useful Hints
All lists have several addresses with special purposes:
-
{listname}@lists.inf.ethz.ch — The normal list address.
-
{listname}-owner@lists.inf.ethz.ch — The list owner. Note, that is the only way to contact the list owner; if you write to support@inf.ethz.ch you will not reach the owner of the list.
-
{listname}-bounces@lists.inf.ethz.ch — Please don't use this address. The list software uses this address as sender to track miss leaded mails. If you reply to that address your mail would end in a box which gets read seldom.
All mails sent to mailing lists are checked for SPAM and viruses by the ETH SPAM filters. The SPAM and the viruses are automatically deleted. List owners can set addition specific SPAM filter rules under Privacy options > Spam filters (use Phyton regex).
