Windows

Instructions for how to update Windows with the fixes for Spectre and Meltdown can be found below.

After the update, verify again that browser and OS have the minimal required version.

For isginf managed Windows the update is automatically installed and Windows will request a reboot which you should do immediately.

Upgrade Windows First

For Windows 10 Home and Pro you will need to make sure you are running one of the newer updates of Windows 10. To check your Windows 10 version do the following:

  • Click on Start.
  • Type cmd and press enter.
  • In the window that opens up type ver and press enter.

Verify in the table below that the reported version is supported:

Version Release KB Required
10.0.10586 1511 Not supported, upgrade to Windows 10 1709, see https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4028685
10.0.14393 1607 KB4056890
10.0.15063 1703 KB4056891
10.0.16299 1709 KB4056892

Antivirus

The ability to install the update is contingent on having an up to date anti virus program. If you are using Windows Defender or Sophos then there should not be a problem.

For any other antivirus products please see the Supported and the Set Registry Key column in the following document:

Updates

For Windows 7Sp1, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 install updates as follows:

  • Click on Start.
  • Type updates and choose Check for Updates.
  • Install all updates and reboot.

If the update does not install or is not shown, please make sure that you have also updated your antivirus first.
