Mail sometimes arrives with long delay

Mails that suspiciously look like phishing mails are automatically sorted into a special mail queue. This queue is only checked periodically during office hours by ITS staff. Regular mails are manually released.

For urgent mails that you need to get through please contact our service desk or the ITS service desk.

I cannot send mail when not at ETH

Depending where you are, port 25 that is needed to send mail may be blocked by the local firewall for safety. In this case starting VPN solved the issue.

Another solution would be to switch to port 587 (submission), which most likely will not be blocked.
